Teacher Tips
Looking for an exciting class outing with an entertaining, historical flavour?
Discover the rich heritage of life on the water at the Muskoka Boat & Heritage Centre, Ontario's newest attraction, boasting state-of-the-art sight and sound displays (voted one of Canada's top 10 most exciting new attractions in 2006). With curriculum-based programs for grades 2 through 11, students learn the intricate workings of a steam engine and the significance of tourism in the Muskoka region, with a focus on the grand hotels and resorts. Through fascinating interactive exhibits, students are invited to meet boat craftsmen of long ago and learn about Muskoka's boat-building history complete with an in-water display of more than 20 vintage wooden boats.
From June through October, your excursion can also include a trip on the renowned RMS Segwun, the oldest operating steamship in North America, or the larger Wenonah II, built with all the style and grace of a 1907 lake vessel. Both ships offer students a chance to "step back in time" to the romance and nostalgia of Muskoka's past while experiencing the beautiful scenery that showcases this well known cottage country locale
Plan your class excursion details with the helpful assistance of Cathy Tait at 1-866-687-6667 or cathy@realmuskoka.com. These not-for-profit venues are 90 minutes north of Toronto in Gravenhurst, ON.
